Polar Night Photography Competition
Choose the best picture you have taken of Polar Night in the polar night region and send it to the competition by the 7th of January 2019.
The winners will be choosen by rewarded nature photographer Martti Rikkonen.

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE COMPETITION
The competition is open to everyone. The pictures must be about Polar Night and must be taken in the region where the Polar Night appears.
The competition starts on the 10th of December 2018 and ends on the 7th of January 2019. The winners will be announced on 12th Janyary in Polar Night Photo -event in Hetta in Enontekiö, Finland.
SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
Participants shall send their photographs to e-mail address kilpailu (at) enontekio.fi. Maximum size of the message, including the attached picture, is 20 MB. Images must contain a short caption of at max 10 words that describes the image. Sender’s name and contactinformation, the exact place where the image has been taken must be included in the caption. The pictures may be placed on the organiser’s website. The organiser reserves the right to reject entries with incomplete details required under the photo submission page.
Each participant may submit one image.
Image submitted must be the participant’s own work.
Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, simple cropping, or simple effects/filters will be allowed.
The submission deadline is the 7th of January, 2019, before 16 p.m. Finnish time.
Each image submitted must be the original work of the participant who must also be its copyright owner. The image shall not be previously published in photo competitions.
The participant shall retain the copyright to the images entered for the competition.
By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having granted the Municipality of Enontekiö the right to use the image in print or electronic media without any fee payment, for the purposes of promoting the photo competition or publishing the results of the competition. Use of the picture in other contexts must always be agreed on between the organiser and contestant.
Prize is non-transferrable and non-exchangeable for cash or in kind. The first prize is a 500 € gift card to Oulun digitarvike, the second prize in a gift card of a dinner for two in Lapland Hotels in Pallas, Hetta or Kilpisjärvi . The prices include Finnish VAT which cannot be deducted or compensated. The organiser pays relevant taxes to the authorities.
The organiser reserves the right to change or replace the competition prize and/or modify the rules and regulations of the competition as and when necessary, without prior notice.
The organiser is responsible for ordering the prize and delivering them to the winner.
The organiser shall not be liable for any fault with any of the prizes and any issues or queries relating to the condition of the prizes should be referred to the manufacturer/supplier of the prizes.
JUDGING AND RESULTS
The winning images will be selected by the judge and the decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.
The judge will evaluate the images based on the following criteria:
– Artistic/visual appeal
– Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme
– Originality and creativity
The organizer reserves the right not to award the prizes if the images submitted do not meet the requirements stated in this document.
Results of the competition will be posted on the enontekio.fi website and winners will also be notified via email.
ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having accepted and agreed to be bound by the rules and regulations of the competition.
While the organiser will exercise due care during the collection, selection and storage of images, it shall not be held liable for any loss, theft or destruction of the images.
