Municipal executive board

The municipal executive board supervises the corporate local authority and the municipal administration and finances in line with the objectives set and resources granted by the municipal council and is responsible for the appropriateness and effective development of the municipality's operations, including inter-municipal cooperation.

The municipal executive board prepares the matters to be decided by the council, unless otherwise decreed, and is responsible for implementing the council's decisions.

The municipal executive board monitors the municipality's financial situation and assesses the need to implement relevant changes. The board also makes proposals for changing operations to correspond to the available resources.

The municipal executive board is responsible for development projects that concern the entire municipal organisation and for implementing projects regarding the comprehensive development of the municipality.

The municipal executive board exercises the municipality's steering power within the corporate local authority and, if necessary, gives binding instructions to the municipal organisation and to the persons that represent the municipality in the administrative bodies of various companies, communities, institutions, and foundations on how to include the municipality's position on the discussed issues.

The municipal executive board is responsible for organising internal monitoring.
